Hornet, in conjunction with Flux, is pleased to announce a unique concert event, Here Come the Waves: The Hazards of Love Visualized, created for the band, The Decemberists, and their album The Hazards of Love. This one-night only concert will be performed with the dramatic visual backdrop created by three of Hornet’s directors: Peter Sluszka, Guilherme Marcondes, and Santa Maria, along with a fourth director Julia Pott. The album, consisting of four different sections, was given to each director to visualize. During the concert the band will play the entire album continuously as the visuals for each sections are projected. The show will take place on October 19th at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus in Los Angeles, California.

Broken up into the four sides of the vinyl album, the directors each chose a side to work on and then the loose theme of the seasons was agreed on as a jumping off point for each section. The directors were able to work independently of each other, and consulted one another when they got to the end of their section. They created transitional pieces to integrate the sections together as one song led to the next on the album.

The process of working with The Decemberists and Flux was creative and exciting for Hornet and the participating directors. On the production and post-production end Hornet simply provided what was necessary for the creation of each section and loosely watched over the project, while the creative remained entirely in the hands of the directors from beginning to end. The result of this process is the voice of each director shining through. Hornet makes an effort to brand its directors so that their point of view is clear and distinct and this film is a testament to that process. Hornets own brand is secondary and built upon the development and expansion of its individual directors. Here Come the Waves: The Hazards of Love Visualized was a project that comes along rarely and Hornet is extremely proud to have embarked upon this labor of love.
