AUGUST 2010

Check out Guilherme Marcondes' Call Back, the most recent addition to the universe he has created for British Gas' Planet Home campaign. This spot is unique in its journey outside the planet homes we have grown accustomed to. We humorously zip through a gas station, take a whirlwind rollercoaster ride, stop off at a tasty doughnut shop, and head home on a double decker bus. See the full spot here.

JULY 2010

Check out Peter Sluszka's animated sequences from Miguel Arteta's Youth in Revolt. Along with the release of the DVD come a few of Sluszka's director's cut animated sequences here

JUNE 2010

Mixtape Club delivers another Google Search On spot just in time for Father's Day. Set to Paul Simon's "Father and Daughter", Mixtape Club tells the sweet story of a father's relationship with his daughter, through the Google interface.

Hornet  partner Michael Feder and Emmy award-winning illustrator Peter de Seve are currently in Annecy. Michael Feder will be representing Santa Maria and Guilherme Marcondes at the festival as Santa Maria's Dentyne Blog Smog and Guilherme Marcondes' British Gas Switching have both been accepted into this year's festival. Peter de Seve is at the festival as one of the three jurors for student films.

Congratulations Peter de Seve! He just won his first Daytime Emmy award for Outstanding Achievment on an Animated Television Series. He won for the character design he created for a show within a show on Sesame Street, called Abby's Flying Fairy School. Check out his blog here

 

MAY 2010

As we drive back from Connecticut, the excitement builds for the premiere of the collaboration between Hornet directing team Dan & Jason and the creative forces of Art Spiegelman and the Pilobolus dance company. Pilobolus' newest piece premieres to the sold out weekend of June 24th in Dartmouth followed by the New York premiere two weeks later at the Joyce. 

APRIL 2010

If you are in Paris, or just looking for a reason to visit....Hornet director Yves Geleyn will be speaking at the Carrousel du Louvre Apple Store as part of the ADC Young Guns speaker series. Yves is part of the ADC Young Guns 7 class of winners, honored in 2009. 

Santa Maria was approached by Ad Council, through DDB New York, to participate in an important PSA campaign for teen suicide prevention.

MARCH 2010

Check out the premiere of Gabe Askew's new music video for Bluebrain's Ten by Ten

Check out PetPunk's first campaign after signing with Hornet. Building upon the iconography of our ever beloved Monopoly board, PetPunk developed CG characters and a glittering and vibrant CG for McDonald's through Leo Burnett UK. 

Hornet is proud to announce the premiere of Gabe Askew's new music video. Gabe's official music video for Bluebrain's "Ten by Ten" will premiere Tuesday March 30th. Be sure to check back.

Annecy has announced its Official Selection for 2010, and Hornet directors Guilherme Marcondes and Santa Maria have been selected for their work last year. Marcondes' British Gas spot "Switching" and Santa Maria's Dentyne "Blog Smog" are among this year's nominees.

Hornet is excited to announce that we are now representing the talented emerging new artist, Gabe Askew, who has taken our industry by surprise with his unofficial music video for Grizzly Bear's "Two Weeks."

Computer Arts Magazine's current issue focuses on “The New Wave of Animation” and the way new artists are revolutionizing the creation of moving images. Hornet directing team PetPunk, comprised of Gediminas Šiaulys and Andrius Kirvela, was chosen as one of their emerging directors to watch in animation.

Guilherme wraps up his title sequence for the film Bunraku. More to come.

Chosen from a selection of entries from over 80 countries, Mixtape Club, PetPunk and Yves Geleyn were honored last night at the Art Directors Club for their innovation, creativity and jeunesse. Shots.net writes a great article about Hornet's collaboration between Flux and the Decemberists and the unique performance that took place at UCLA's Royce Hall. Also, the directors are chosen as contenders in the online magazine's Contenders section.

Hornet director Aaron Stewart has been asked to create a special piece for the limited engagement exhibition to launch MUNNYWORLD, Kidrobot's all-new-do-it-yourself line of vinyl toys. We are excited for Aaron to be a part of this project...so come to the opening of this exhibition if you can!

SEPTEMBER 2009

Hornet produces the visuals for the live concert event of the Decemberists' Here Come the Waves: The Hazards of Love Visualized. Presented in association with Flux, this is a collaboration between the band, Hornet's Guilherme Marcondes, Peter Sluszka and Santa Maria along with a fourth director Julia Pott-- each of whom have created an animation to accompany a section of the music. Stay tuned, more will be revealed....

Hornet welcomes PetPunk to its roster of directors. Hailing from Lithuania, PetPunk is the creative collaboration of Andrius Kirvela & Gediminas Šiaulys.

Guilherme Marcondes is interviewed for Line Boil by Dan Forgione. With Marcondes' British Gas spots being the impetus for this piece, they discuss topics ranging from his Brazilian origins to his design concepts.

Digup (digup.tv), an independent editorial project based in France, interviews Hornet's directing duo Santa Maria. Shot on location in picturesque Paris, Santa Maria chase pigeons and take in the sites as they tell the story of how they met and where they'd like to go as a directing team.
