Directing team PetPunk were busy bees this summer! The duo created several new designs for Visual Editions’ August newsletter about, well, PetPunk. Continuing their mask/headpiece exploration, they made a new piece for their personal collection, that is a ferociously toothy bear head crossed with a flower.

Santa Maria directs a new music video for artist Roberto Carlos Lange’s project Helado Negro. The song 2° Dia features the singer prominently, floating over cityscapes and into outer space, for a cosmic and meditative journey.
Mixtape Club was commissioned to make a piece about happiness for this year's F5 (happy) festival. The resulting short, Hello, I Like You, is a visual rumination on the simple things that can bring happiness.

Snow Angels is also chosen as an Art/Technique contender in this year's New York Festivals International Advertising Awards to be held on May 4th & 5th.

Check out Guilherme Marcondes' Call Back, the most recent addition to the universe he has created for British Gas' Planet Home campaign. This spot is unique in its journey outside the planet homes we have grown accustomed to. We humorously zip through a gas station, take a whirlwind rollercoaster ride, stop off at a tasty doughnut shop, and head home on a double decker bus.

Hornet partner Michael Feder and Emmy award-winning illustrator Peter de Sève are currently in Annecy. Michael Feder will be representing Santa Maria and Guilherme Marcondes at the festival. Both Santa Maria's Dentyne Blog Smog and Guilherme Marcondes' British Gas Switching have both been accepted into this year's festival. Peter de Sève is at the festival as one of the three jurors for student films.

Congratulations Peter de Sève! de Sève just won his first Daytime Emmy award for Outstanding Achievment on an Animated Television Series. The award is for character design for a show within a show on Sesame Street, called Abby's Flying Fairy School. Read more about it on his blog here.
As we drive back from Connecticut, the excitement builds for the premiere of the collaboration between Hornet directing team Dan & Jason and the creative forces of Art Spiegelman and the Pilobolus dance company. Pilobolus' newest piece premieres during the sold out weekend of June 24th at Dartmouth, followed by a New York City premiere two weeks later at the Joyce Theater.
If you are in Paris, or just looking for a reason to visit....Hornet director Yves Geleyn will be speaking at the Carrousel du Louvre Apple Store as part of the ADC Young Guns speaker series. Yves is part of the ADC Young Guns 7 class of winners, honored in 2009.

Hornet produces the visuals for the live concert event of the Decemberists' Here Come the Waves: The Hazards of Love Visualized. Presented in association with Flux, this is a collaboration between the band, Hornet director's Guilherme Marcondes, Peter Sluszka and Santa Maria, along with a fourth director Julia Pott. Each director created an animation to accompany a section of the music. Stay tuned, more will be revealed....
